    Hate itLove itNetwork

Love the app and use it at least a few times a week to read headlines and stories, check scores, etc. Have to say the coverage, placement of said coverage in the “scrolling” hierarchy, and app functionality around men’s USA Olympic basketball is very disappointing. Unlike any other team I’ve ever noticed on the app, you can’t click the team icon and be taken to a subsection on the team (recent results, future schedule, etc). I’ll give that a pass, short window for the Olympics and developers might not have considered that small detail/functionality. Placement of team headlines is almost at the bottom from a scrolling perspective. I’m a football guy so I understand it being below NFL and CFB - they dominate mainstream sports in the US and the network has deals with both, I believe. However, it’s also below a section on sports betting, a 5 day old gimmicky stand alone article on sports betting, Premier Lacrosse League (that’s a thing?), LLWS, Women’s Olympic golf, Women’s Olympic Soccer, general Olympics, and a random add about fitness regimens for men’s age ranges. It’s so far down, I almost gave up and thought I’d have to search Team USA to find anything if they covered it at all. Some coverage is there, but buried with lacking app functionality and that was disappointing.

    BugsDifficultWaiting

It is unreal how difficult it is to start and switch streams. Let’s take today’s game for an example: game for ESPN is delayed 10 minutes from 6 to 6:10. My game starts on ESPN+ since the prior game on ESPN hasn’t finished yet. Problem 1: If I hit “play” on my stream at 6:00, it will stay on the “your event is about to start” screen well past actual tipoff. It doesn’t switch to start the stream when it starts Problem 2: AFTER the stream starts, I find it and hit play. I’ve already missed the very beginning of the stream since I can’t join it early (see problem 1). Problem 3: I’m happily watching my stream on ESPN+, when the stream cuts out to a loading screen of sorts (presumably the prior game finished on ESPN). Problem 4: I now try to find my game again on the menus, and I do eventually. I click it, and the stream says it hasn’t started yet! Why would one stream cut out (problem 3) when the new one isn’t ready yet (problem 4)? Problem 5: I have to exit out of the stream and find it again on the menus because we established in problem 1 that you can’t stay on a “event has not yet started” or else it may never actually switch to the live feed once it starts. You have to fix these bugs, it makes me loathe it when my team’s games are on ESPN. All of these issues are present on the Roku tv app as well.

This app is trash. Every few days it asked me to login again. It has me confirm my subscription through a TV provider. Then, after, confirming, it will just spin forever. Then I have to close it, open it again, and try it again. And variably it doesn’t recognize me. It is the most frustrating, garbage thing you could imagine. It’s bad enough having to reset a password, or having to make a call to a provider to get them to reset your password, this is worse. This is me, confirming that I’ve already paid for the service and this trash of an app not being able to accept that I already have. It’s even worse when they are the only provider of the service you’re trying to stream. Of the game you’re trying to view. I am sitting here watching my television spin once again while I try to watch a football game. On top of everything else it’s near impossible to find programming that you want to actually watch. The way it’s organized is completely the opposite of what you would think would be common sense. I figured that over the past few months, they would’ve done a redesign, maybe fired a person or two who thought they knew what they were doing, and obviously didn’t. But no, it’s still the same, I’m absolute trash. I think it’s fine time to delete this thing. My God ESPN, can’t you get your act together? Good Lord.
